Allergy Relief Tablets

Tablets, eye drops and nasal sprays can be used individually or in combination to combat the symptoms of hayfever.
Sodium Cromoglycate eye drops are more of a preventative and suitable for people who suffer on most days through the hayfever season. Antihistamine types such as Otrivine-Antistin give more immediate relief and are probably better for those who suffer occasionally eg on high pollen count days.
Corticosteroid sprays should be used every day throughout the hayfever season as a preventative and should be started a few weeks before the hayfever season begins. These sprays begin to work within a few days but may take a few weeks to reach their full effect.They are not suitable for people under 18 years of age.
Antihistamines such as piriton may cause drowsiness whereas loratidine,cetirizine and acrivastine typically do not.
Try to stay indoors when pollen counts are high and avoid grassy areas.Wearing wrap-around sunglasses can help keep pollen out of eyes.
