Electronic Prescriptions Information

NHS-EPS2-Logo-small.jpg

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows prescriptions to be sent electronically between your prescriber and us, without the need for a paper prescription . You can choose or “nominate” where your prescriptions are sent electronically using the EPS.

Nomination is a new process that is being introduced in Release 2 of the Electronic Prescription Service.

When a nominated electronic prescription is generated, it is sent to the Electronic Prescription Service and retrieved by the nominated dispensing system. This eliminates the need for you to call at the GP practice to collect your prescription. There is no paper prescription and no bar code to scan.

If a prescription is sent electronically to us as your nominated dispenser, a prescription token may be printed by your GP in response to a request for a prescription copy by you. Vantage Phamacy’s name and address will then be printed on the prescription token.

If you as the patient do not set a nomination or do not wish your  prescription to be sent electronically to us on a particular occasion eg if you wish to pick up your prescription at another pharmacy whilst away on holiday, the name and address details of the dispensing contractor will be blank and a bar code will be printed on the right hand side of the paper prescription form. You can then take this form to any pharmacy.

To nominate Vantage Pharmacy as your dispensing Pharmacy for Electronic Prescriptions please read the information here then complete the consent form.
